January Membership Meeting & Lecture

Our first 2026 Membership Meeting will be on Saturday January 17th, 10:00am-1:00pm at our new meeting location:
CLARA Studios in mid-town Sacramento
2420 N Street (Room 135)
Clara Studios caters to the performing arts and is also home to the Sacramento Ballet, Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy, Capitol Stage, and McKeever School of Irish Dance. It is open 7 days a week with plenty of free parking and also boasts an onsite coffee shop: Seasons Coffee Roasters.
After Club business, we will have a lecture on Natural Dyes with Grey Lux (our new Vice President), and have the opportunity to make new friends while exploring the Clara Studios location.
Looking forward to visiting with returning members and meeting new members! 2026 will be full of great lectures, workshops, and interesting study group topics so prioritize your fiber arts passion and add our event dates to your own calendar.

Color, Heritage, and the Handmade: A Journey in Natural Dyeing
Join multidisciplinary artist Grey Lux for a color filled lecture exploring the artistry of natural dyeing, indigo, and slow hand-stitching. Rooted in Boricua-Taíno heritage, Grey will share how natural dyes like indigo, cochineal, weld, and madder bring history and meaning to cloth. The talk will highlight the beauty of indigo vats and shibori resist techniques, alongside reflections on hand-stitching and sashiko as meditative practices that connect us more deeply to our materials. Through images and examples of their work, Grey reveals how natural dyed textiles become living stories — carrying the touch of the maker, the depth of tradition, and the enduring value of the handmade.
