Sew a Simple Bag
Dust off your machines and grab your favorite fabric scraps! This month, we’re having a hands-on Sew-In. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your skills for a good cause or just want some uninterrupted "me-time" with your machine, we’ve got a seat for you.
Featured Project: The Sew Powerful Purse
Lisa will walk through construction of the Modern Sew Powerful Purse as our featured project. These bags are more than just a sewing exercise—they are donated to the Sew Powerful organization to help girls in Zambia stay in school. The new "Modern" version is easier than ever!
Purpose: These purses are gifted to students and filled with essential hygiene supplies.
Difficulty: Beginner-friendly but offers plenty of room for creative flair!

Your Machine, Your Choice
Not feeling the purse? No problem at all! The goal of gathering is community and creativity.
Bring your own project: If you have a quilt top that needs finishing or a garment you’ve been procrastinating on, bring it along!
Open Sewing: Enjoy the company of fellow guild members while you work at your own pace.
What to Bring
To ensure a smooth day of stitching, please remember to pack:
Your Sewing Machine (and power cord/foot pedal!)
Basic Sewing Kit: Scissors, seam ripper, pins, and bobbins.
Fabric & Thread: If making the Sew Powerful Purse, check the pattern link above for specific yardage requirements. Due to limited space, it's recommended that you pre-cut and fuse interfacing to pattern pieces in advance.
Extension Cord: A heavy-duty one is always helpful!
Let’s turn our collective scraps into something powerful. We can't wait to see what you create!
In order to ensure enough seating, please RSVP using the button above.
The meeting is Free for SCTA Members.
If you care to bring a friend (non-member), their first visit is complimentary.
Non-member class fees are 10.00 after their first visit.
