Vicki Assegued "Taking Our Art Beyond Where We've Been"
This presentation focuses on expanding your approach to your creative process, inviting you to derive inspiration from many aspects of the world around you, to embrace "mistakes" as opportunities, to try new techniques and materials, to discover new combinations, to grow your aesthetic appreciation and application, and to embrace the broadening of your imagination and creative process.
Bio:
Vicki is an experimental and innovative fiber artist and national instructor, continually discovering new and unique techniques to work with textiles and fibers. Through her creative process, she explores many ways to weave, layer, attach, coil, tie, knot, twist, build and develop her pieces so they are vibrant and engaging. When teaching, Vicki shares all of her techniques with her students, supporting and inspiring them to fully engage in their own creative process of discovery and expression. Her students make gorgeous and unique pieces and feel truly inspired by her teaching to dive deeper into their own artistic practice. Vicki teaches at art schools and retreats around the country, and exhibits and sells her work.

Going Beyond the Frame
Saturday, July 18, 2026, 1PM - 5PM
You'll begin by wrapping a frame with fun fabrics and fibers, then adding all sorts of elements within, around, behind and hanging off of the frame. Learn many fun and exciting techniques for creating shapes, wraps and protrusions to make your wall piece gorgeous and unique. In addition to the fibers, you can add on decorative elements such as beads, found objects, etc. You'll be encouraged and supported to go beyond art that you've made in the past, to develop a sense of experimentation and innovation, and to make something you've never imagined making.
Materials:
All materials will be provided.
Optionally: You're most welcome to bring fabrics, yarns, beads, small objects, and other decorative elements to add to your piece.
Please bring a pair of fabric scissors, if you have them.
