The Sacramento Collective for the Textile Arts (SCTA) is seeking new Board Members to join our leadership team in 2026. SCTA is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to fostering community, education, and creative exchange around textile arts in the Sacramento region.
We are entering an exciting phase of growth and organizational strengthening, and we are looking for individuals who are interested in contributing their skills, perspective, and care to a collaborative board.
About SCTA
SCTA supports textile artists and enthusiasts through:
Educational lectures and workshops
Ongoing study groups
Community partnerships and outreach
Opportunities for creative exchange and learning
Our board works together to guide the organization’s mission, support volunteers, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our programs
Board Culture & Governance
SCTA has recently undertaken governance and role-clarification work to ensure:
Clear responsibilities and decision-making
Sustainable workloads for volunteers
Shared leadership and accountability
Respect for the time and capacity of all involved
Board members are not expected to do everything. Instead, we work through defined roles, committees, and support structures so that leadership is collaborative rather than burdensome.

Attend monthly board meetings (typically 1.5–2 hours)
Participate in at least one board subgroup or committee
Support SCTA’s mission and values
Engage respectfully and responsively in board communications

Board members are not expected to manage day-to-day operations alone or fill gaps indefinitely when volunteer capacity fluctuates.

Average commitment: 5–8 hours per month
Some roles may require additional time during active periods, with scope and expectations discussed in advance
SCTA is committed to preventing burnout and encouraging sustainable participation
